In 2001 there was two rivaling clans in Ostfold, Norway. CGI (chameleon, dyret, flyer, korupt and luke) and HH (executioner, nVy, vizer and x-qu). None of these teams were good enough to challenge the best norwegian clans at the moment, so Luke (from CGI) and vizer (from HH) decided to start a new clan featuring the best players from the two previous clans. The first lineup consisted of Azazin, Luke, nVy, vizer and X-qu, while eon joined the team shortly after.

After the lineup was ready, the team needed a name. A lot of rather bad suggestions was mentioned, but none of them seemed fitting for the team. One day Luke was bored at school, he started to push the buttons of his mobile phone randomly. Suddently, the screen simply said zX9. This was a collection of random letters and a strange number that Luke thought had a certain coolnes factor. The other guys agreed and from these letters the whole name of the clan was formed: nin9 eXiled zealots.

Their first tournament was Ping Reply 2001 where Norways best team at the moment, VSE / X-pec, where competing. The tournament went along as it should for both teams and as expected they had to fight it out in the finals. VSE / X-pec claimed an easy victory (which seemed a bit surprising) but gave the team a lot of inspiration to continue towards the final goal and develope themselves. At fall 2001 zX9 was considered to be one of Norway's best clans by many and at spring 2002 they won the largest tournament hosted in Norway at The Gathering 2002. This victory proved to be the last for several months since the clan went inactive shortly after. One month before The Gathering 2003 the team was however gathered again (with a few new players) and yet again zX9 showed that they are to be counted as one of Norway's best teams. 160 teams competed and only one could win -- which ended up being zX9.
